Wonder Academy started the way most good things do — with a parent who couldn't find what her own child needed, and decided to build it.

“A joyful start today.
A brighter future tomorrow.”
Somewhere between the end of the school day and the start of the evening, two things were quietly going wrong. Immersion students were losing the Mandarin they had worked years to build, because there was nowhere to keep using it. And homework had turned into the argument that ended everyone's evening.
Neither problem needed a bigger institution. They needed a bright and welcoming room, familiar textbooks, and someone who knew each child well enough to notice what they were actually stuck on.
So we built that. Wonder Academy is the after-school place we were looking for and couldn't find — right here in Sierra Madre, for the schools our own children attend.
To help every child leave a session more capable and more confident than they arrived — in their schoolwork, in their language, and in themselves.
Education · Empowerment · Excellence
Four things we hold to, in every session, with every child.
A low student-to-teacher ratio isn't a luxury — it's the only way to catch the child who has quietly stopped understanding and is too embarrassed to say so.
We teach from the materials their own school uses. Learning shouldn't mean holding two different versions of the same subject in your head.
Every child has personal learning targets, tracked over time. Parents shouldn't have to guess whether something is working.
We celebrate the child who tried something hard and got it wrong. That is the habit that carries them through school — not a run of easy right answers.
The best way to know if Wonder Academy is right for your child is to visit. Ask about a free trial class — bring them along and let them try a session.
We're on West Sierra Madre Boulevard, a short drive from both Field Elementary and Sierra Madre Middle School — easy for pickup on the way home.
